FAQs

What does CFP® mean and why is it important?

CFP® stands for Certified Financial Planner™ and is a formal recognition of expertise in the areas of financial planning, taxes, insurance, estate planning and retirement plans. In order for someone to be a CFP®, they must complete a CFP® Board-registered education program and pass the CFP® exam. When hiring someone with the title of Certified Financial Planner™, you are hiring a true professional

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes! We built Oakview with the understanding that our clients best interest will always be put before our own. An advisor who has pledged their fiduciary duty is required by law to act first and foremost in their clients best interest and we are proud to adhere to that standard.

How does Oakview Wealth Solutions make money?

As a fiduciary, independent planning firm, we work on a fee-only basis and do not accept commissions, referral fees or compensation from other sources. We are paid in one of three ways; hourly, flat fee and percentage of the investments that we manage. What you pay will always be discussed prior to any work being done.

What makes you different from other Financial Advisors?

As a family-run business, our main priority is to provide a setting that feels more informative than intimidating. We are not your “fathers advisor”, meaning you will not see suits, glass walls, or services pushed onto you that you don’t need. We made the choice to leave the corporate world and establish an environment that is warm, educational, and family-focused. It’s not unusual for us to take a call on a Saturday morning, for us to know your pets name, or for our clients to receive pictures and updates about our own family. While we may be investing money FOR you, we are also invested IN you.

Do you need a financial advisor?

Below are some questions to ask yourself about your current situation. If you happen to answer YES to ANY of these questions, then it is very possible that an advisor could greatly benefit you. While the below questions are not the only times that an advisor could be needed, they are the most common that we see when people are on the fence about getting help with their money. For more information, please reach out for a FREE 15 minutes phone call to see what we can do for you.

  • If you are consistently maxing out your retirement savings but still finding yourself in a top tax bracket, a financial advisor could be worth their weight in gold to you.

  • Decision paralysis is something that occurs when we have to select from options that are difficult for us to compare. An advisor can provide rational and personalized choices for you, alleviating you from inaction that can potentially lead to losses or missed chances with your portfolio.

  • An unbiased third party can help a couple work better as a team, helping each gain clarity on each of the couples top and shared values.

  • In addition to helping you create a financial plan, a good financial planner can help you figure out any underlying issues and meet required deadlines for responding to the IRS. Side note: if the IRS is in the wrong, your advisor can help you file the appropriate response for a favorable resolution.

  • Hiring a financial advisor will help you define your target time and desires for retirement and get you on the best path to achieve those goals, as well as ensure you stay on that path.

  • Many people in their particular professional field don’t know much about another person's professional field, and finance is no different. If you are not a dentist, you wouldn’t know the ins and outs of the dental field, and you would go to a dentist for their professional assistance. Your money deserves the same respect.
